Jormungandr Slain

The great World Serpent, Jormungandr, was killed in glorious battle with Thor. Aided by Jaeger and Eric, as well as the expertise of the Midgardian Dr. Mathers and the healer Grima, they were able to overcome the creature. It is said that as the Serpent burst forth from Niflheim, Thor guided Mjollnir with a precision and grace none had seen before to break the thing's back stop it causing too much collateral damage on the Plains of Vigrid.

Jaeger and Eric were able to prevent serious damage to Thor as he was seen fighting on Vigrid against the hordes of the Dead.

Rumours however suggest that the corpse of Jormungandr continued to wreak havoc on Vigrid after death. There are several confused reports about its movements but it seems to have at last completely succumbed to its wounds.

Surtr dead, Nine Worlds temperature drops dramatically wound in reality

… it seems to pulse in the sky somehow visible against the blackness.

The second sun which was terrorising the worlds seems to have disappeared. From the ground people witnessed the odd sight of the star seemingly collapsing in upon itself revealing eventually shrinking to reveal a yawning void growing in it's centre. This strange void hangs in the sky above the worlds still glowing lightly at the edges but showing no signs yet of closing upon itself.

In the aftermath of this several observers report seeing a furious fight in the sky between an titan of flesh and a Titan of flame whilst still others swear they saw a shooting star fall to earth.

Thor Crippled by Falling Star

Tragedy struck all Asgardians - even as Thor fought the armies of Hel on Vigrid some last plan of his enemies came to pass. As Surtr's light was diminished, a star falling from the void above struck Thor.

A large crater remains where Thor was gravely wounded - Jaeger reaching him too late to help.

Thor seem to have retreated to the remains of Asgard and will see no-one but Jaeger. Those who have seen him say that he is burned all over his body and walks bent and crippled, his blood thick and black. Others have also seen that Jaeger now carries Mjollnir on his belt.

Death of Winterlight CEO - Alfred Chekhov

Elusive industrialist, Alfred Chekhov, has been seen in the flesh at last, for the first time in years. He was spotted by UNITED officials leading an army of robots across the Plains of Vigrid. Reports on why he was there are unclear, but it is certain to say that the army, and Chekhov were stopped by Gideon and Grace McQueen of ARES team.

While Grace McQueen was responsible for disabling the army, Gideon was seen to take on Chekhov in single combat. After a short fight Gideon had extricated Chekhov from the suit, when all of the army explodes with considerable force. The reasons for the altercation and the explosion are unclear, and ARES team are being asked for a formal debrief.

Ice Giants pushed back

The forces of Midgard and Asgard hatched a daring plan to defeat the Niflheim foe, as Air Commodore Wilkinson arranged for tunnels to be built beneath them by dwarvern crafters. Eydis was then seen using them to summon forth magma as several volcanoes formed beneath the Icy defenders, aided by a large nuclear detonation.

Wasting no time the troops pushed forward as Olrik and Eydis engaged Sinmara in combat, sending her retreating after a punishing firestorm. The Ice Giants are slowly fleeing the field, though are still resilient against their pursuers and seem to be refortifying on the very edge of Niflheim.

Dr Abominable taken into custody

The international terrorist known as Dr Abominable has been taken into custody after a daring raid on his lair led by the esteemed Commander Jan 'Atlas' Hueppals of the infamous XS-42 unit. Through the combined efforts of Yuri 'Lelantos' Veselovsky, Phillipe 'Prometheus' Normand, Jeffrey 'Metis' Rayne, Robert Sykes, Col. Dmitri Voronov and Barney Lamb, as well as numerous UNITED personnel, the villain was incapacitated and his minions subdued. Dr Abominable has been put in a highest security cell and will face trial in the coming weeks.

Plague of Agnethas ended

Due to the efforts of numerous members of the Asgard Science Council, and the tireless hunting of the great Veurr, the plague of Agnethas that were hunting down innocents in Vanaheim have been either recaptured or terminated, thus putting and end to the reign of terror of these creatures.

Meanwhile, the “Dalek” was destroyed by none other than Dr Abominable, who is being heralded by residents of Hygrad as a hero. “The Good Doctor” as they call him, was said to have been summoned to help at the personal request of Princep Kurteisliga, who's authority and judgment is unrivalled, according to his people, across the Nine Worlds.

ITP Readings going insane - perhaps the World Tree is dying?

These new readings don't make any sense how can the world be both falling apart and growing faster than ever seen before at the same time.

ITP experts around the world have been perplexed by several unprecedented ITP readings picked up from around the world. Numerous theories abound as the cause of these with some suggesting the world tree is dying giving an ultimate twist to the idea of a final battle.

Others suggest that the reading merely indicate the turning point in the convergence phenomena and that soon the worlds will start once agains splitting apart.

Strange sign over battlefield

Fighters on Vigrid were bemused to see a plane write letters in smoke over the battlefield. The plane, which appears to have arrived from over the mountains of Asgard, delivered the following message before returning home:

“Option 2 - get in touch”

Analysts have yet to determine a meaning.

Mighty Science Lobster

The Asgard Science Council has been recently telling anyone who will listen of their success in constructing an enormous metal lobster on which they have relocated their Hall. This construction was last seen on the island of terrorist Dr Abominable, although it was reported to have left the island during the raid and is set to become an inter-world hub for Scientific discovery in the first (and hopefully only) “Nine Worlds University of Science”.

Survivors Rescued from Venice

Survivors have been recovered from the UNITED Research Facility in Venice following a rescue mission by UNITED forces coordinated by Everard Wilkinson and taken to UNITED HQ for psychiatric treatment and debriefing. Amongst the survivors is researcher Dr Elsa Williamsen who described the depths of the facility as “Hel on earth”, citing monstrosities that had previously been experiments getting loose in the chaos and laying waste to most of the survivors. A report has been published to UNITED by Lt. Gordon Billingham into the atrocities that have occurred in the facility but for now the report is restricted as “MOST CONFIDENTIAL”.

The facility has been since flooded by Wilkinson in order to prevent any of the monstrosities inside escape, although sightings have been made of a dragon flying out of Venice.

Loki and Heimdall Dead

In a battle that lasted several days, spanned almost the entire plain of Vigrid and was witnessed by thousands Heimdall and the foul trickster Loki finally met their end.

The noble guardian of Valhalla cut down the father of monsters only to be felled in turn by an underhanded act of poisoning.

After the fight a small amount of fighting broke out near Loki's body as several groups of individuals attempted to reclaim it. None of them were successful however, destroyed by infighting or outside intervention.

Heimdall's body has been returned to Asgard for a proper funeral whilst the traitor Loki's body burned where he fell, consumed by his own fires.

Hall of the Dead attacked

Reports are coming in that Svartalfheim's Hall of the Dead has been damaged or destroyed by a series of attacks from Hellish forces.

A joint taskforce of UNITED, Asgardian and Dwarven defenders repelled several attempts to assault the Hall by powerful Hellish entities however it seems that a lone suicide bomber was able to get close enough to the Hall to cause serious damage.

Further details will be available once the situation clarifies.

Gwen Augustine Obituary

UNITED are sad to report the loss of Dr Gwen Augustine.

Exact details of the circumstances of Gwen's death are unavailable at this time as debriefings have still to occur.

Dr Augustine will be remembered for her work with XS-42, and the many friends she made within UNITED

Further details to follow.

Wolf corpses removed from Asgard by philanthropic elves

The numerous wolf bodies that littered Asgard following the attack by Fenrir's spawn have been collected and preserved for food thanks to the efforts of the Elves of Alfheim, in particular Brynjolf, and the coordination efforts of Baeglier. Queen Nassé, when asked, said that this was simply part of Alfheim's duty to the war effort and that the Elves of Alfheim would never see the Worlds starve.

Allied Forces in Retreat

Following the arrival of the great ship Naglfar to field of Vigrid, and the arrival of Loki and Byleistr, the tide of the battle has turned against the Asgardians and the Humans. Dead bodies are being seized by the Hellish and forced to fight against the living. Across the battlefield, medical teams are instructed in the necessity to to dismember the fallen to prevent them from being raised as foes.

Due to the sheer number of corpses on Vigrid, the Asgardian/UNITED forces are being slowly driven back as the Hellish armies only become stronger with each passing hour. However under Sannast's guidance losses have not been so great as they might have been, and despite the terrible nature of the foe, there have been no routs or slaughters.

Of further concern is the flooding of the river Gjoll across the Plain. A project intended to halt the advance of the Ice Giants apparently having been coopted by the forces of the dead. The river now stretches all the way to the Midgard opening, where preprepared flood defences have held back most of the deadly tide.

Reports from multiple source on the ground claim the water God Skjoll Aegirsson was seen driving the dark waters over one section of the defences, and an unknown amount of contamination of Midgard's oceans may have occurred.
