Mia - Jen McG

No one is quite sure where Air Cdre Everard Wilkinson unearthed Mia, but the paperwork says she's under his wing and a valid member of UNITED, and she has an office, so everything's got to be aboveboard despite the unseemly haste, right? Besides, you really don't want to argue with someone who has a cat like that.

Eternity

…take Mia, for instance. Known in Venice as L45, she escaped the claws of Dr Rosales and joined UNITED, becoming instrumental in the creation of Team Rising Phoenix and construction of the infinitely useful Worlds Wide Web we take for granted nowadays. It is even said that her work with Interpol System Beta is all that keeps her from destroying the world…

- Excerpt from “Venice: Ends and Means”, by Dr R. Duxbury

Mia, along with a number of rescued people from Venice, formed a crack team under the authorisation of Director Wilkinson known as Team Rising Phoenix. These once persecuted people became eventually the saving force for so many, including bravely driving off the Dark Horse of Barney Lamb in a desperate fight over North America, with the Horse being taken by Mia's own power and flung into the sky.

She later connected the Worlds, building upon the infrastructure laid down during Ragnarok to create the Worlds Wide Web, taking the Midgardian concept of the Internet and plugging it into every world, bringing knowledge and connection to worlds that were left isolated before.

Mia (and Boeing) didn't quite age like humans. Perhaps it was the elven blood, the training in elven magics, or the nanobots, or any one of a thousand things they'd been injected with. After Everard Wilkinson died, and Rising Phoenix succumbed to mortalities, she moved to Alfheim, which became the centre of the Worlds Wide Web in turn. She eventually learned the art of Elven Magic and became an archmage, developing full gravitic control, to a startling degree – it was said she raised Alne by herself once when it was under attack — but although she took students, working with the University of Virdar.

Mia never wore a wraith collar. She had spent enough time shackled, she said. Those close to her bore witness to the scars she bore, anywhere a violent restraint could have ever been used, and so, eventually, Mia succumbed to age and after a couple of centuries living in Alfheim passed away. It is said that Boeing stayed with her pyre to the very end, and rumoured that she still comes to sit where the pile of ashes eventually went cold.
